More Information on How to Change the iPhone Bluetooth Name

The steps in this article were written using an iPhone 13 in iOS 15, but these same steps will work on most other iPhone models in most other versions of iOS.

Additionally, this lets you change the Bluetooth name of other Apple devices like the iPad and the iPod Touch as well.

Making this adjustment affects the way that your iPhone is identified to other devices. If you would like to change the name of a Bluetooth device that you see on your iPhone, then you need to take a different approach.

You used to be able to change the name of a Bluetooth device on an iPhone by going to Settings > Bluetooth > tapping on the i next to one of the devices there then adjusting the “Name” value, but this isn’t possible in many newer versions of iOS. Even if you had an older iOS version there weren’t a lot of devices that supported this.

If you do need to give another Bluetooth device a new name then you are going to need to try and accomplish that from the device itself, which is rarely possible.

When you change the Bluetooth name on your iPhone you are also changing the way that is identified in other situations as well. For example, if you have a router that allows you to see the device names of everything that is connected, then your device name will be updated there as well after you make this change.
