The different apps and services on your iPhone can use your location for a number of different reasons. A maps app might use it to determine driving distances to an address from your current location, while a food delivery app might use your location to find local restaurants that will deliver to you. Whenever an app uses your location, a small arrow will appear in the status bar at the top of your iPhone screen.
But if you don’t want these apps to use your location, then you can disable the feature entirely. Our tutorial below will show you where to find the Location Services setting on your iPhone 5 so that you can turn it off completely.
Disable All GPS and Location Service Usage on Your iPhone 5
Step 1: Open the Settings menu.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap the Privacy option.
Step 3: Tap the Location Services button at the top of the screen.
Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Location Services.
Step 5: Tap the red Turn Off button to confirm that you wish to disable this feature. As noted in the screenshot below, some Location Services will be re-enabled if you use the Find My iPhone feature in the future to locate the device.
